The W New York Hotel is an 18-story steel frame structure with two additional penthouse levels. The building facade consists primarily of brick masonry, exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS), limestone and terra cotta. The original building construction is estimated to have been completed around 1929. TCE performed a NYC mandated Local Law 11 inspection of the facade and put together a two-year plan for the owner to repair the building exterior. The repairs included steel lintel replacement, flashing installation, brick replacement, EIFS repairs, sealant replacement, terra cotta repairs and re-glazing and limestone repairs. TCE is serving as the engineer of record and the project manager for the owner on the construction project.
