ERIC (Rick) L. EDELSON, P.E., PRINCIPAL
Rick joined Tadjer-Cohen Associates, Inc. as a junior engineer. He later became a principal and vice-president of the firm which was then renamed Tadjer-Cohen-Edelson Associates, Inc. He has been a leader in the field of forensic analysis and structural restoration and has been involved in forensic engineering and the design of repairs of deteriorated structures. Rick has designed repairs for millions of square feet of garage space, thousands of balconies, and numerous facades, roofs, and plazas. His specifications have included crack and joint repairs, all types of concrete repairs including post-tension repairs, all types of waterproofing coatings and water resistant sealants, and cathodic protection devices. Rick has been involved with many methods of investigation into the causes of concrete deteriorations such as sounding, impact echo, copper-copper sulfate halfcell analysis, ground penetrating radar, petrographic and chemical analysis, and infrared thermography. He is a co-author of the International Concrete Repair Institute Guides for Post Tension Evaluation and Post Tension Repair; the Guide for Methods of Measurement and Contract Types; the Guide for Hydrodemolition; and the Guide for Non-Destructive Testing.
Rick is a current member and past president of the International Concrete Repair Institute Chapter of Metropolitan Washington, DC. In 2000 he served as the national President of the International Concrete Repair Institute and served as the Chairman of the Technical Activities Committee from 2001 through 2007.
